Updates on the reopening of leisure travel between provinces

Now that we can enjoy leisure travel within South Africa again, here are a few things you need to know about your Vitality travel benefits. Plus, read our helpful tips on how to keep safe and contain the spread of COVID-19 while exploring our beautiful provinces.

With domestic travel now open, we can all enjoy all that our beautiful country has to offer. In line with President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recent announcement that Level 2 lockdown allows for domestic leisure travel between provinces, we need to update you on your travel benefits and safety protocols before you start travelling again.

How to stay safe when you travel

South Africa is still recording thousands of new COVID-19 infections daily, so we must continue to be cautious. In line with the president’s guidance, let’s work together to avoid a second wave of COVID-19 infection in South Africa.

Try these tips to stay safe when you travel:
  • Take into account your personal circumstances and health status when making travel plans.
  • Follow the recommended preventive guidelines, such as:
    • Wearing a mask
    • Keeping a physical distance of 1.5 metres or more between you and others
    • Washing your hands with soap and sanitising regularly
  • If you are over 60 or have co-morbidities, stay home to limit your exposure.
  • If you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 or are experiencing any symptoms you must remain at home to limit potential spread of infection to others.
  • Be mindful of exposure and be responsible in isolating yourself if you may have been exposed to the virus. Even when you are not experiencing symptoms, you could still spread the virus to someone else.
