Start your 2019 right – help learners get to school safer and faster with Qhubeka Bicycles

Half a million learners in South Africa walk over two hours to school and back – reducing their chances of academic success. You can help to change this through Vitality MoveToGive and Qhubeka Charity

We're in the early days of a new year. Whether you’ve committed to improving your health and fitness, or you’ve chosen to do more to help others this year, we’re making it possible through our new Vitality MoveToGive initiative.

Give the gift of time, and help more children get to school safer and faster

With the school year now well underway, it's worth considering that 12 million of our country’s 16 million learners walk to and from school. Of these, 500 000 walk over two hours to school and back every day. Children arrive tired, which impacts on their ability to concentrate and affects their likelihood of academic success. Time spent walking also means less time to spend learning or playing.

To help, we've partnered with Qhubeka Charity to improve scholar mobility through their learn-to-earn bicycle programmes. Reach your weekly fitness or drive goals, and select MoveToGive as a reward. Your MoveToGive donation will go towards funding bicycles for learners in need. With a bicycle, a learner can travel faster, further, and carry more.

Learners earn bicycles by improving their school attendance

Learners earn their bicycles through Qhubeka Learn-to-Earn Programmes by committing to improving their school attendance and academic results. With a Qhubeka Bicycle, a learner’s commute time is reduced by up to 75% – improving their chances of a bright future!

Every contribution towards improving the future of our country and its children adds up. Do your part to give South Africa’s children improved access to education.
